Fee Waivers
- If students QUALIFY for Free and Reduced Lunch, they are eligible for a Fee Waiver for both the SAT and ACT. Free and Reduced Lunch Forms should be submitted to Mr. Verdin in the Parent Resource Center or filled out online at: www.scusd.edu/applyformeals
- Fee Waivers can be found in the Counseling Office after school. See Ms. Taormina.
- Registering for the SAT with a Fee Waiver guarantees students 4 FREE College Applications through Collegeboard.
Important Things to Know About Registering
- Register before the original registration deadline to avoid the $29 late fee. Fee waivers DO NOT cover late fees accrued after the late fee deadline.
- Price of the SAT $47.50, SAT With Essay $64.50
- Price of the ACT $42.50, ACT With Writing $58.50
- If students are planning to apply to any UC, they MUST take the SAT with Essay or the ACT with Writing. CSUs DO NOT require applicants to take the Essay or Writing portion for either test.
- The December test score of senior year is the LAST SAT and ACT test score accepted by the UCs and CSUs for Fall admission.
- Private and Out-of-State schools MAY be test optional, meaning students won’t have to take either test. Students should check with the admissions office of their college.
Sending/ Accessing Scores
1. Scores can be viewed on the site students used to register for the test (Collegeboard.org or ACT.org). Students must create an account to access them.
2. For students who took the SAT on SAT School Day, their scores are also available online at Collegeboard.org.
3. Scores do not automatically get sent to colleges. Students MUST order them from the site they used to register for the test (Collegeboard.org or ACT.org).
4. Score reports cost $12 each unless the student uses a Fee Waiver to register for the SAT or ACT. The Fee Waiver allows students to send 4 free score reports. Students will have to pay for additional score reports.
5. UCs and CSUs share SAT and ACT scores amongst their sister campuses. Send scores to one campus in each university system (Ex. Send scores to UC Davis and all 9 UCs will be able to see your scores).
6. Score reports take approximately 1-2 weeks to arrive at the colleges of the student’s choice. Send them as early as possible.
